Position Overview:
The National Audubon Society, a prominent nonprofit organization dedicated to the conservation of avian species and their habitats, is seeking a Center Director for its esteemed Seabird Institute. This role is pivotal in advancing conservation efforts in Maine and beyond, contributing to a mission that resonates across the Americas.
Key Responsibilities:
The Center Director will oversee the operational management of several key initiatives, including the Hog Island Audubon Camp and the Project Puffin Visitor Center. This role requires a collaborative leader who can effectively engage with various stakeholders and drive the strategic vision of the organization.
Leadership and Management:
- Provide strategic leadership to the Seabird Institute, ensuring alignment with the National Audubon Society's overarching goals.
- Develop and maintain efficient administrative systems to enhance operational effectiveness and compliance.
- Manage the annual budget, including preparation and review of financial reports, ensuring fiscal responsibility.
Team Development:
- Supervise and mentor a dedicated team of staff, fostering a culture of growth and collaboration.
- Oversee recruitment and management of seasonal staff to support educational and scientific initiatives.
Fundraising and Community Engagement:
- Enhance the visibility of the Seabird Institute among potential funders and partners.
- Cultivate relationships with key stakeholders, including local organizations and community groups, to support conservation efforts.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 10 years of relevant professional experience, with at least 3 years in a managerial role.
- A bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred, though equivalent experience will be considered.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills are essential.
