About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Perception Research Engineer to join our Perception and Safety R&D Team at Boston Dynamics. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing robotic perception technologies that enable our robots to operate safely and effectively in various environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop perception technologies to detect hazards, humans, and other environmental features
  • Integrate perception technologies into a framework that combines computer vision, ML, functional safety, and embedded systems
  • Test and validate perception technologies against real-world use cases
  • Lead cross-functional technical efforts involving interdisciplinary collaboration
Requirements
  • 7+ years of experience working in the area of robotic perception technology development
  • Strong programming skills in C++
  • Knowledge of state-of-the-art in related areas including human detection, autonomous vehicle and driver assist systems, and robot safety
  • Experience developing specifications for perception systems from high-level product requirements
  • Experience developing time-sensitive perception systems for mobile robotic platforms
  • Strong communication skills, including ability to author technical documentation and deliver presentations on technical topics
  • History of leading cross-functional technical efforts through planning, technical requirement development, and interdisciplinary collaboration
