Key Responsibilities
- Assessment - Gather relevant medical and social history. Conduct thorough evaluations using techniques that align with current professional and health system standards to objectively assess physical and functional status. Establish functional and measurable short and long-term goals and design an appropriate treatment plan, considering discharge options from the outset.
- Intervention - Administer treatment as outlined in the initial assessment. Adjust treatment as needed, update goals, and reassess discharge plans throughout the treatment process according to current professional and health system standards. Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of treatment techniques and apply them appropriately, ensuring patient and family education and communication with relevant team members.
- Productivity - Productivity targets and goals will be established by the department each fiscal year.
- Documentation - Ensure clinical documentation is timely, objective, and complete. Administrative documentation, including billing and outcome measures, must be accurate and timely.
- Collaboration - Engage with interdisciplinary staff regarding the welfare and management of assigned patients in a professional manner. Communicate with patients and families in a respectful, professional, and compassionate manner.
- Professional Development - Take personal responsibility for ongoing education and professional growth. Provide education to therapy staff, system employees, and the community. Stay updated with clinical research findings and best practices to deliver evidence-based care. Complete all required continuous training and education, including department-specific requirements.
- Supervision - Oversee the patient care activities of assistants, aides, and volunteers. Delegate routine care to supportive personnel as appropriate. May supervise students after a minimum of 2 years of employment/experience.
- Graduate of an accredited program with a minimum of a Doctorate in Physical Therapy. (For individuals who completed appropriate Physical Therapy education prior to 2015, a Bachelor's degree or higher in Physical Therapy will be accepted if they hold a valid Physical Therapy license in the state of practice or proof of license eligibility.)
- Must hold a license from the Connecticut Department of Public Health.
- New graduates may be considered.
- BLS certification is required.
