Job OverviewEmployment Type: Part Time
Compensation: $16.50 per hour
Position Summary:The Lumberyard Associate will support customers in the lumberyard, operate material handling equipment, replenish stock, and assist with general store operations.
Supervisory Duties:- No supervisory responsibilities.
- Welcomes customers upon entry to the yard.
- Safely loads and unloads materials into customer, vendor, and company vehicles.
- Answers customer inquiries regarding products.
- Communicates any customer issues or requests to management promptly.
- Organizes, stocks, and rearranges building supplies in the yard and warehouse.
- Conducts routine safety inspections on forklifts in accordance with company protocols.
- Ensures the cleanliness and organization of the lumberyard and storage areas.
- Confirms that customer or vendor tickets correspond with the merchandise being loaded.
- Covers materials as necessary to protect them from weather conditions.
- Cuts lumber and other materials as per customer requests.
- Operates forklifts safely and efficiently.
- Participates in all store meetings and training sessions.
- Performs additional related tasks as assigned.
- Ability to follow instructions independently.
- Maintains professionalism and courtesy at all times.
- Understanding of weight distribution and loading techniques.
- Quickly adjusts machine or vehicle controls to precise positions.
- Must complete all required training and certification for equipment operation, including forklift certification.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Forklift operator certification required.
- Successful completion of on-the-job training, including levels 1 and 2 of positional training.
- Ability to stand and move around the yard and warehouse for extended periods.
- Must utilize a three-point hold when entering trucks or forklifts.
- Capable of lifting up to 80 pounds regularly, occasionally lifting/moving up to 100 pounds, and pushing or pulling loads of 50 pounds.
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks over long durations.
- Willingness to work overtime, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Must be adaptable to various weather conditions.
