Minimum Qualifications:
- Preferred 1-2 years of experience in orthopedic care, spine surgery, or pain management.
- In the absence of experience, candidates must possess:
- Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant training program or hold a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license.
- Familiarity with medical office procedures, treatments, insurance, managed care operations, electronic medical records (EMR), and scheduling software.
- Certification or additional training that meets meaningful use requirements.
- High school diploma or GED, along with graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant training program as per state regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Enhance communication between patients and healthcare providers during care:
- Gather and relay essential information to the provider
- Follow directives from the provider
- Prepare patients for their appointments, including rooming patients, obtaining and documenting vital signs, reviewing intake forms, and setting up for procedures.
- Contribute to company initiatives such as Patient-Reported Outcomes (PROs) and Quality Payment Programs.
- Maintain standards in examination rooms, ensuring they are restocked and cleaned at the end of each clinic day.
- Monitor and replace biohazard and sharps containers as necessary.
- Assist providers with patient prescriptions and complete necessary medical forms.
- Respond to voicemails within 24 business hours and document actions in EMR.
- Prepare electronic patient charts for upcoming clinic visits.
- Verify that all outstanding test results are available in EMR and confirm patient appropriateness for the provider.
- Scan clinical documents into EMR.
- Print clinic schedules on the morning of service.
- Ensure patients receive appropriate education as directed by the provider.
- Manage EMR desktops for assigned providers efficiently.
- Act as a PTO Buddy according to clinic plans.
- Foster a positive patient experience.
- Maintain a HIPAA-compliant environment.
- Keep workspace clean and organized.
Experience:
- Prior experience as a Medical Assistant is preferred.
Knowledge:
- Understanding of the healthcare field.
- General knowledge of patient care within a clinical setting.
- Familiarity with back-office operations.
- Awareness of patient confidentiality, state laws, HIPAA regulations, and medical records management.
Skills:
- Professional demeanor when interacting with providers, colleagues, patients, and their families.
- Strong problem-solving abilities.
- Effective time management skills.
- Adaptability to changing situations.
