Job Description:

Holtec International is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join their SMR-160 nuclear reactor engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and analyzing safety and non-safety related Electrical systems, working closely with the I&C, systems, mechanical, and nuclear engineering teams.

This role requires the ability to apply knowledge and experience, industry best practices, regulatory guidance, codes and standards, and good engineering judgment to ensure the design is compliant with International regulatory criteria and industry best practices.

The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for developing system function and design requirement specifications, one-line/three-line diagrams, licensing requirements for electrical systems, and component specifications for individual system components.

Key responsibilities include interacting with vendors to obtain vendor input/design confirmation of various components, performing and supporting vendor selection and vetting process, and working with other work groups to provide electrical design support.

Minimum Requirements:

  • BS in Engineering from an ABET accredited college or university
  • 0-5 years of demonstrated applicable experience in power generation (nuclear, fossil, etc.) electrical system design
  • Demonstrated technical writing skills and effective communication skills

Desired Qualifications:

  • MS in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field of study from an accredited college or university
  • >5 years of demonstrated applicable experience in power generation (nuclear, fossil, etc.) electrical system design
  • Experience in power system design and/or maintenance at a power generation facility, specifically on site distribution (AC and DC), off site interfaces (switchyard), grounding and lighting protection, plant lighting systems, battery system design, or diesel generators
