Orthopedic Spine Specialist Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Orthopedic Spine Specialist Physician Assistant to join our team at Baylor Scott & White Health in Temple, Texas.

About the Role:

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated and experienced physician assistant to work alongside our orthopedic spine specialists in providing high-quality patient care. As an Orthopedic Spine Specialist Physician Assistant, you will be responsible for assessing patients' physical and mental conditions, ordering diagnostic tests, interpreting results, and developing treatment plans. You will also have the opportunity to work in various settings, including outpatient clinics, surgical operating rooms, and emergency departments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess patients' physical and mental conditions through comprehensive or problem-focused examinations and medical histories
  • Order, collect, interpret, and evaluate laboratory and other diagnostic tests to assess patient problems and healthcare needs
  • Prescribe, recommend, and/or employ medical drug therapies or other forms of related therapeutic treatments and procedures, or perform indicated procedures in accordance with approved policies with attention to efficacy, safety, and cost
  • Formulate and implement comprehensive outcomes-based patient treatment plans based on patient assessments, evidence-based medicine, standards of care, professional practice guidelines, and in collaboration with physicians and other interdisciplinary team members when appropriate
  • Evaluate patients' responses to healthcare provided and the effectiveness of care
  • Counsel patients and families regarding medical processes, management of health illnesses/conditions, medication, nutrition, and health promotion
  • Maintain appropriate records detailing patients' treatment plans and outcomes, and initiate timely consultation and referral when the problem exceeds scope of practice and/or expertise

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you must have a strong foundation in general surgery, orthopedics, and medical ethics. You should possess excellent communication, interpersonal, and critical thinking skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Education and Experience:

  • Graduate of an accredited program
  • Less than 1 year of experience as a physician assistant

  • Competitive salary: $120,000 - $150,000 per year, depending on experience
