Biomedical Informatics Specialist

Job Summary
UAB is seeking a highly skilled Computational Biologist to join our Genetics Research Division. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for analyzing and interpreting complex biological data to advance our understanding of human health and disease.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement computational models to analyze large-scale biological data sets
- Develop and apply machine learning algorithms to identify patterns and trends in genomic data
- Collaborate with researchers and clinicians to integrate computational results into clinical decision-making
- Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in computational biology and genomics research
Requirements
- Doctorate degree in a related field (e.g. computational biology, bioinformatics, genomics) OR Master's degree in a related field with 2+ years of experience OR Bachelor's degree in a related field with 4+ years of experience
- Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, R, or Java
- Experience with machine learning and data analysis tools and techniques
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
