Pediatric Intensive Care Specialist

Job Summary
As a Pediatric Intensive Care Specialist at the Commonwealth of Virginia, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional care to critically ill children. You will be responsible for managing patients requiring advanced life support, including mechanical ventilation, vasopressor support, and continuous renal replacement therapy. Your expertise will be essential in making complex medical decisions and collaborating with the multidisciplinary team to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality patient care, prioritizing the needs of critically ill children.
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Manage patients requiring advanced life support, including mechanical ventilation, vasopressor support, and continuous renal replacement therapy.
- Make complex medical decisions and communicate effectively with the healthcare team.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and outcomes.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing required within 5 years of hire.
- 1 year of relevant experience in pediatric critical care.
- Licensed to Practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
- American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification.
Physical Demands
- Standing for prolonged periods.
- Frequent traveling.
- Bending/stooping.
- Proficient communicative, auditory, and visual skills.
- Ability to lift/push/pull 20-50lbs.
- May be exposed to chemicals, blood/body fluids, and infectious disease.
