Compensation: $78,000 / Annually
Elgen Staffing is seeking an experienced Project Engineer to enhance our client’s operations in the manufacturing sector, specifically focusing on commercial machinery.
The selected candidate will oversee the technical dimensions of projects aimed at delivering substantial capital food processing machinery to clients.
As the primary technical liaison, you will collaborate with sales, project management, and service teams to ensure that equipment aligns with client expectations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design industrial food processing and packaging equipment models utilizing Autodesk Inventor 3D.
- Create equipment layout and installation drawings, piping and instrumentation diagrams, and process flow diagrams in AutoCAD 2D.
- Lead a team of one to five skilled design engineers on component specifications, equipment sizing, and detailed design specifications.
- Analyze customer specifications, commercial documents, and internal standards to define project supply scope.
- Organize and engage in peer review meetings to develop and assess Risk Assessments.
- Size mechanical and powertrain components including shafts, bearings, sprockets, and gearboxes.
- Size heat transfer and fluid flow components such as valves, pumps, burners, and heat exchangers.
- Specify purchased components including sensors and switches.
- Monitor design and customer drawing release schedules to prevent project delays.
- Support equipment fabrication progress through our manufacturing facilities, which include a complete machine shop, sheet metal shop with laser and waterjet capabilities, and a welding assembly shop.
- Collaborate with the field service team to assist with equipment installation, start-up, and commissioning.
- Travel as necessary to review equipment during construction and commissioning phases.
- Occasional travel to client facilities for meetings and troubleshooting may be required.
- Willingness to work overtime as needed.
KEY REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Food Engineering.
- Minimum of 6 years of CAD experience, including 3D modeling and drafting.
- Experience with FEA and CFD modeling is advantageous.
- Understanding of design for manufacturability (DFM).
- Experience in food processing equipment is beneficial, but strong analytical skills are paramount.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Familiarity with SAP is preferred.
