Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Wildlife Conservation Technician to join our team at My Florida Corp Defunct. As a key member of our conservation team, you will be responsible for monitoring fishing effort on Lake Talquin, conducting surveys, and collecting data to inform conservation efforts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct surveys on Lake Talquin to monitor fishing effort and collect data on freshwater fish species
  • Interview anglers on the water to gather information on their catch and harvest
  • Accurately record and maintain detailed survey data
  • Operate FWC vehicles and equipment in a safe and law-abiding manner
Requirements
  • A high school diploma and two years of post-high school experience in wildlife, fisheries, environmental, ecological, or related agriculture or construction
  • Vocational training or an associate's degree in wildlife, fisheries, environmental, ecological, or related agriculture or construction may substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required experience
  • Ability to trailer, launch, and safely operate boats up to 20 ft in length
  • Ability to effectively communicate with the public
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and appropriately represent the agency
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to safely operate vehicles
  • Ability to work in inclement weather
  • Attention to detail
