Description
The Town of Davie has transitioned to a four (4) day work week schedule (10 hours per day). Hours of work are Monday through Thursday from 7:30am-6:00pm.
Under general supervision, the incumbent will engage in a range of professional accounting activities. Key responsibilities may include the organization, maintenance, review, and interpretation of financial records, as well as assisting in the preparation of financial statements and reports. This position reports to the Accounting Manager.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Monthly reconciliation of multiple bank accounts.
- Creation and input of journal entries and bank journals for all funds.
- Reconciliation of balances on assigned general ledger accounts.
- Verification and reconciliation of daily bank deposits between the Town's system and the banks' system.
- Collaboration with other Town employees to ensure proper posting of Town revenues such as grants, donations, and other special revenues to the appropriate general ledger accounts.
- Researching voided/cleared checks and retrieving copies of cleared checks for all departments.
- Determining capital assets while reviewing fund expenditures.
- Timely execution of all assigned duties and performing other related tasks as necessary.
- Engagement in additional related work as required.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
- A minimum of four (4) years of professional accounting experience.
- Additional qualifying experience beyond the four (4) years may substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
- One (1) or more years of experience in governmental accounting.
- Must successfully pass a Level 2 background check, which includes a credit check.
