Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Interpreting Fellow to join our team at the State of South Carolina. As an Interpreting Fellow, you will provide direct interpreting services in a variety of K-12 educational settings, working closely with highly qualified and credentialed interpreters to ensure accurate and effective communication.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct interpreting services in K-12 educational settings
  • Prepare for interpreting assignments by obtaining lesson plans, reading assignments, and previewing class materials
  • Develop and adhere to a professional development plan
  • Collaborate with interpreters and resources to ensure conceptually accurate academic signs for vocabulary
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED and fluency in both English and American Sign Language
  • degree in Interpreting, American Sign Language, Special Education, or related field
  • Education Interpreting Performance Assessment (EIPA) score of 3.0 or higher, or a sign language Proficiency Interview (SLPI) level of Intermediate
