- Assessment: Conduct ongoing assessments to evaluate students' progress and adjust instructional strategies accordingly.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with classroom teachers, special education staff, therapists, and other professionals to support the holistic development of students with disabilities.
- Inclusion: Promote inclusivity and create a supportive and welcoming environment where all students feel valued and empowered to participate in physical activities.
- Adaptations: Modify equipment, rules, and activities as necessary to ensure accessibility and safety for students with disabilities.
- Communication: Maintain open and effective communication with students, parents, colleagues, and other stakeholders regarding students' progress, achievements, and challenges.
- Professional Development: Stay informed about best practices, research, and trends in adaptive physical education and participate in professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills.
- Bachelor's degree in physical education, special education, or a related field (Master's degree preferred)
- Valid teaching certification/license in physical education or special education
- Experience working with students with disabilities in an educational or recreational setting
- Adapted Physical Education (Cl-623) Added Authorization
- Knowledge of adaptive physical education principles, techniques, and strategies
- Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to differentiate instruction and tailor lessons to meet individual student needs
- Commitment to promoting inclusion, diversity, and equity in physical education
