Compensation: $80,000 - $95,000
Position Summary:
The ideal candidate for the Machine Shop Supervisor role will possess outstanding manufacturing capabilities, along with a solid understanding and hands-on experience with various CNC machinery and controls. This role requires proficiency in interpreting customer job travelers and work orders, as well as the ability to read and analyze mechanical blueprints. The supervisor will be responsible for preparing and installing computer control programs for machining centers, selecting, inspecting, and installing appropriate tooling, and operating computer-controlled machining centers in a safe and productive team-oriented environment.
The supervisor will oversee the overall direction, coordination, cleanliness, safety, and evaluation of personnel within the Machine Shop area, ensuring that the company maintains its status as a leader in producing high-quality, timely parts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with shop personnel and department managers to organize workflow across all shifts.
- Work alongside employees to enhance efficiencies while upholding quality standards.
- Lead efforts to meet and exceed production targets.
- Develop and implement training programs, and enforce production policies and procedures.
- Utilize gaging and inspection tools to ensure compliance with specifications.
- Ensure compliance with company certification and ISO registration requirements.
- Oversee the presetting process to maximize equipment utilization.
- Monitor workloads and schedules to guarantee timely deliveries while maintaining high-quality standards.
- Engage daily with the company ERP system.
- Identify all training, machinery, tooling, and process requirements for the department.
- Manage departmental expenses and budgets effectively.
- Oversee planning sequences and review time standards for part routings.
- Support and promote management-directed lean process improvement initiatives.
- Maintain accurate production records to meet customer specifications.
- Achieve departmental and personal goals for productivity and quality, striving for continuous improvement.
- Report any machinery or process issues to management or maintenance.
- Handle multiple tasks and manage various projects simultaneously.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
- Adhere to all safety protocols established by the company, including proper equipment usage and procedures.
Essential Qualifications:
- Demonstrated ability to manage others effectively while exemplifying a strong work ethic and supporting team needs.
- Excellent communication skills and a commitment to teamwork.
- Consistent attendance is crucial for this role.
- Prior experience in a leadership position, such as Lead or Supervisor.
- Comprehensive knowledge of tooling, fixtures, materials, and processes.
- Proven track record of high work standards, quality, and team collaboration.
- Competence in operating and managing multiple machine tools.
- Proficient computer skills.
- Ability to inspect machined components using various inspection tools.
- Strong mathematical skills and the ability to read technical drawings.
- Capability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Effective verbal and written communication abilities.
Education and Experience:
- 5-10 years of experience in the manufacturing sector, with a solid understanding of speeds and feeds, and at least two years in a leadership role.
- Demonstrated leadership experience.
- Familiarity with Microsoft applications.
