Water Treatment Specialist

As a Water Treatment Specialist with the Army National Guard, you will play a critical role in ensuring the health and safety of your fellow Soldiers. Your duties will include site reconnaissance and preparation for water treatment activities, setting up equipment and facilities, operating and maintaining water treatment equipment, managing portable water supplies, monitoring the storage, transport, and disposal of waste, and conducting water quality analysis and testing. You will also inspect facilities and food supplies for the presence of disease, germs, and other environmentally hazardous conditions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct site reconnaissance and preparation for water treatment activities
  • Set up equipment and facilities for water treatment
  • Operate and maintain water treatment equipment
  • Manage portable water supplies
  • Monitor the storage, transport, and disposal of waste
  • Conduct water quality analysis and testing
  • Inspect facilities and food supplies for environmental hazards

Training and Development

As a Water Treatment Specialist, you will receive comprehensive training in environmental health and sanitation, including hands-on and classroom instruction. You will learn how to identify health hazards and inspect food products, food service operations, wastewater, and waste disposal facilities. You may even qualify for a certified apprenticeship in this occupation.
