Job Summary

The City of Pittsburgh is seeking a skilled Electrical Inspector to join our team. As an Electrical Inspector, you will be responsible for ensuring that electrical systems installed in all construction projects within the City of Pittsburgh comply with approved plans, City Code, Uniform Construction Code, National Electric Code, and International Code Council (ICC) Code.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect electrical systems installed in all construction projects for compliance with approved plans, City Code, Uniform Construction Code, National Electric Code, and International Code Council (ICC) Code.
  • Investigate complaints and alleged violations of electrical systems in existing structures.
  • Inspect damage to electrical systems and submit reports on findings.
  • Issue citations of violations to property owners and/or contractors.
  • Testify in court on behalf of the City of Pittsburgh.
  • Review plans, wiring diagrams, specifications, etc. related to assigned electrical wiring inspections.
  • Recommend approval and/or disapproval of projects based on compliance with applicable codes.
  • Maintain records and prepare accurate reports and correspondence on all activities and actions taken.
  • May be required to be on 24-hour call in case of emergency or fire.

Requirements

  • Five (4) years of full-time experience in related electrical construction or inspection work (e.g., electrician, electrical inspector, etc.).
  • Certification in electrical wiring from an accredited institution.
