Job Summary:

As a key member of our Food Service team at Forrest General Hospital, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our retail food court. Under the direct supervision of the Food Service Manager, you will be responsible for accurately operating the cash register, collecting cash and charges on sold goods, and maintaining a clean, orderly, and well-stocked work station. Your attention to detail and ability to work efficiently will be essential in meeting the demands of this fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate the cash register with accuracy and speed, handling cash and charges on sold goods.
  • Reconcile and record monies, resolve performance variances, and generate reports as needed.
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary work area, including the retail food court and surrounding areas.
  • Perform sanitation duties throughout the retail food court, including serving at the steam table and providing customer service from the grill location.
  • Assist with maintenance of the front-of-the-house by stocking supplies, cleaning spills, removing garbage, and performing other duties as assigned.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and visitors of all age groups, being sensitive to their cultural and religious beliefs.

Performance Expectations:
  • Demonstrate ability to receive, rotate, stock, and distribute food and supplies efficiently.
  • Demonstrate ability to work in freezer, cooler, and dry storage areas.
  • Demonstrate ability to read and follow recipes accurately.
  • Demonstrate ability to efficiently and safely run all equipment, including grills, food processors, choppers, and mixers.
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary work area, including the retail food court and surrounding areas.
  • Demonstrate ability to run the cash register, make change as needed, and balance at the end of the shift.
  • Demonstrate ability to take phone orders and deliver meals to patients in a friendly manner.
  • Demonstrate ability to effectively wash and sanitize dishes, keep floors clean and dry, and maintain a clean and stocked dining room.
  • Demonstrate ability to follow direction from management and assist in other areas as needed.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent required. Strong background in math preferred. Work experience of one year preferred, with on-the-job training provided.
