Histologist I

We are seeking a skilled Histologist I to join our team at Actalent. As a Histologist I, you will play a critical role in processing and staining tissue for examination to assist in receiving a diagnosis by a Pathologist.

• Prepare gross surgical specimens for examination
• Maintain positive identification of all specimens throughout the process cycle
• Perform necessary quality control procedures to ensure the reliability of all results
• Maintain and compile necessary records and reports
• Ensure proper maintenance and documentation of all instrument checks and preventative/routine maintenance

• NYS Licensure in any clinical capacity (clinical lab technician/technologist, histotechnician/technologist, medical technician/technologist, etc.)
• Ability to prepare gross surgical specimens
• Experience in staining histologic sections
• Competency in preparing special stains and solutions for differential staining
• Record keeping and reporting
• Quality control procedures
• Instrument maintenance and checks

• Time management
