About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Construction Materials Practice Team Lead to join our Miami and South Florida offices. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading our South Florida construction materials inspection, testing, and laboratory group, and collaborating with other construction materials and geotechnical practice area leads across Florida and the Southeastern U.S.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead an established project team in successfully completing projects related to construction management, construction quality management, special inspections, materials testing, and laboratory testing in both construction materials and geotechnical applications.
  • Manage laboratory accreditations, prepare for lab audits, maintain quality control, and ensure timely execution of lab tests.
  • Maintain FDOT certification program for field and laboratory staff.
  • Lead and support business development and strategic planning efforts to increase market share in priority markets.
  • Develop and enhance key client relationships and serve as a primary company contact on projects.
  • Coordinate with clients to define work programs and budgets, provide leadership and strategy, including general oversight and planning, and project management.
  • Manage and coordinate project teams, ensuring the technical quality of deliverables.
  • Support financial, project management, backlog, and utilization reporting requirements for the Central/South FL Operation.
  • Full managerial responsibility for all aspects of a project, including safety, scope development, contract negotiations, cost control, staff management, quality control, and cash management.
  • Recruit and hire staff and direct project staffing assignments to meet client, contract, and company business objectives.
  • Support staff development through mentoring.
  • Make quick decisions requiring sound judgment and experience.
  • Interact with regulatory agencies, subcontractors, and clients in a confident and professional manner.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or science (Masters in Geotechnical or Materials Engineering is strongly preferred).
  • 10+ years of related experience leading teams, managing projects, and sound knowledge of laboratory tests, field testing, special inspections, construction materials, and geotechnical services.
  • Licensed Florida Professional engineer is required.
  • Experience with laboratory testing, including concrete, soils, aggregate, and asphalt.
  • Excellent organization skills and ability to multi-task.
  • Strong industry reputation and knowledge of the South and Central Florida market.
  • Positive experience dealing directly with client representatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strong client relationships and experience in proposal preparation.
  • Strong work ethic and demonstrated ability to work on project teams.
  • Strong MS Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
