Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Ecologist to join our team at Barr Engineering Co. as a consultant in environmental services. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in ecology, wetland science, and natural resource management.
Compensation and Benefits
The estimated base salary for this position is $67,500/year, with the potential for a discretionary cash bonus. Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate ecological and regulatory constraints associated with wetlands and biological resources for projects and prepare reports and applications required for project implementation.
- Conduct wetland delineations, hydrology and vegetation monitoring, and functional assessments and natural resources inventories.
- Develop permit applications, environmental impact assessments, and restoration plans.
- Consult with regulatory agencies and work cooperatively with local, state, and federal regulators.
- Work independently and collaboratively as part of project teams to achieve project goals.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in ecology, wetlands science, biology, botany, or a similar natural resources field.
- 5 years of professional experience related to the job responsibilities described above.
- Experience with wetland delineations and permitting under the Clean Water Act.
- Knowledge of federal NEPA and state equivalent regulations and permitting processes.
- Strong written and oral presentation skills, as well as strong interpersonal and attention to detail skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Master's degree in ecology, wetlands science, biology, botany, or a similar natural resources field.
- 6 or more years of professional experience related to the job responsibilities described above.
- Experience working in a consulting environment and knowledge of state and federal endangered species programs.
