Job Title: Neurosurgical Nurse Practitioner

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Neurosurgical Nurse Practitioner to join our team at The Morrison Clinic. As a key member of our neurosurgery practice, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and contributing to the growth and success of our organization.

Job Summary:

The Neurosurgical Nurse Practitioner will work under the supervision of a physician to provide direct patient care, coordinate treatment plans, and educate patients and their families on neurosurgical conditions and procedures. This is a fast-paced and dynamic role that requires strong clinical skills, excellent communication, and a patient-centered approach.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform comprehensive and problem-focused histories and physical examinations, interpret laboratory and diagnostic tests, and formulate a differential diagnosis and working diagnosis.
  • Assist in surgical procedures, including craniotomies, spinal procedures, and peripheral nerve cases, and conduct hospital rounds on all patients, including intensive care units.
  • Examine new clinic patients and follow-ups, complete thorough history and physical examinations, and order appropriate laboratory and radiographic tests.
  • Prescribe medication for neurosurgical conditions within scope of practice, under supervision of supervising physician, and refer/present cases to supervising physician.
  • Provide a safe and therapeutic environment, effectively interact with patients, families, physicians, and other healthcare workers, and participate in insurance authorization process.
  • Maintain accurate and timely patient records, provide educational consultations, and react calmly in emergencies and make appropriate and timely decisions.
Requirements:
  • Current licensure with Florida Board of Medical Examiners in good standing to practice.
  • Current state and federal DEA registration.
  • American Heart Association Healthcare provider course with Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Preferred experience in orthopedic spine, neurosurgical clinical, or pain management.
