Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced K-3 Literacy Coach to join our team at Wayne County Schools Employment Network. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing coaching and support to teachers to improve student literacy outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Model effective instructional strategies for reading and literacy
  • Partner with teachers to develop and implement literacy plans
  • Schedule and support reading interventions for students
  • Provide professional development and coaching to teachers on literacy best practices
  • Evaluate student literacy needs and collaborate with teachers and administrators to develop targeted interventions
  • Lead faculty in the selection and use of assessment tools to inform instruction
  • Conduct regular meetings with teachers to monitor student progress and provide feedback
  • Assist teachers with analysis of assessment data to inform instruction
  • Provide individual diagnostic testing and support as needed
  • Assist with planning and implementing the school's literacy program
  • Participate in team reviews and program evaluations
  • Attend scheduled meetings and parent conferences as required
Requirements
  • Valid Michigan Educator's Professional Certificate with a Master's Degree in Education
  • Minimum five (5) years of successful K-6 classroom teaching experience
  • Familiarity with Guided Reading, MLPP, DRA, Literacy Essentials, Writers' Workshop, and/or Reading Recovery
  • Knowledge of scientifically researched best practices in Reading/Writing and literacy instruction
  • Successful experience working with English Language Learner populations
Working Conditions

This is a 40-week per year position with a salary according to the master contract.
