Job Summary

Duke University is seeking a skilled Neurodiagnostic Technician- EEG to join our team. As a key member of our clinical staff, you will be responsible for performing routine and complex procedures to obtain data for use in the diagnosis of clinical disorders of the nervous system in at least one of the following modalities of Neurodiagnostics: Electroencephalography (EEG), Evoked Potentials (EP), Epilepsy Monitoring (CLTM).

Responsibilities
  • Perform one of the following END studies: EEG or Evoked Potentials.
  • Explain testing procedure to patient and family using age-appropriate language.
  • Accurately take and document a pertinent history from the patient or chart.
  • Set up patient for appropriate study to include: patient, paperwork, room, and equipment.
  • Run study with appropriate documentation on study, observation of the patient, troubleshooting equipment and physiological artifacts, distinguishing normal from abnormal, and utilizing appropriate resources to perform study.
  • Recognize and take appropriate action to respond to evolving patient care needs.
  • Demonstrate proper cleaning procedures for the patient, room, and equipment after each study.
  • Utilize downtime for training, cleaning equipment, and reading educational materials.
Requirements
  • Associate's degree in neurodiagnostic technology (or comparable), biological, health science, or related field strongly preferred.
  • Two years of experience in Neurodiagnostic Technology required for Level 2.
  • Five years of experience in Neurodiagnostic Technology required for Level 3.
  • Competency in two modalities of Neurodiagnostic Technology required for Level 2.
  • Competency in three modalities of Neurodiagnostic Technology required for Level 3.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Neurodiagnostic background preferred (NCS, EEG, SLEEP, IOM) but not necessary.
  • Medical background.
  • Works well within a team environment along with being a self-starter.
  • Interested in working with patients of all age groups.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good problem-solving skills.
