Position Summary:

The Senior Accountant will undertake a variety of accounting responsibilities, including monthly and quarterly financial closes, account reconciliations, accounts payable support, and assistance with corporate matters. This role will involve supporting financial planning and reporting functions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), corporate policies, and Statutory Accounting Principles (SAP), as well as regulatory reporting requirements.

The Senior Accountant will conduct complex accounting activities, prepare financial reports or statements, and develop analyses and accounting studies to inform financial decisions. They will be responsible for producing written financial statement analyses and presenting analytical results, including trends and forecasts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Generate accurate accounting reports and present findings.
  • Analyze financial data and summarize results in accordance with GAAP and STAT.
  • Prepare and record entries for assets, liabilities, revenues, and expenses by compiling and analyzing account information, while maintaining and balancing subsidiary accounts.
  • Analyze and explain variances to plans, maintaining the plan in Oracle.
  • Provide expert accounting services for intricate and complex accounting issues.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual operating and financial statements, including comprehensive analyses of operating results.
  • Develop financial statements, reports, and analyses to respond to special requests from senior management and regulatory agencies.
  • Participate in special projects to ensure that financial accounting, reporting, and operational issues are identified and addressed promptly.
  • Ensure that management and regulatory reports are accurate, timely, and properly documented.
  • Maintain compliance with operational risk controls in line with corporate policies.
  • Complete additional responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in annuity, reinsurance, and investment accounting.
  • Experience in financial planning and variance analysis.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to perform under pressure.
  • Proficiency in key PC software applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
