About the Role

Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine & Science is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Security Officer to join our team. As a Security Officer, you will play a critical role in maintaining the safety and security of our students, faculty, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and maintain the security access control system, security cameras, and other notification systems to ensure the safety and security of our campus.
  • Conduct regular security tours of the campus and student residential areas to identify and address any potential safety or security concerns.
  • Provide professional security services at special events and respond to emergencies in a timely and effective manner.
  • Prepare and submit accurate and detailed reports of incidents and security-related activities.
  • Check in all visitors and receive and coordinate incoming phone calls to the University during non-business hours.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Prior experience in high public contact security or a closely related field is preferred.
  • 20 hours of security training or equivalent security/law enforcement experience/training is required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior security experience in a higher education setting is highly desirable.
  • 5+ years of security experience in a high public contact setting is preferred.
Working Conditions

The selected candidate must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodations. The Security Officer will be required to work a variety of shifts, including days, evenings, and weekends, and may be required to work overtime as needed.
