The Pharmacist will assume responsibility for providing comprehensive, patient-oriented pharmacy services in a hospital setting. This role will work under the general direction of the administrative or clinical coordinator and will provide direction and supervision for supportive staff.
Key Responsibilities- Coordinate the dispensing of medications, including unit dose, intravenous admixtures, and investigational drugs.
- Identify and monitor the pharmaceutical needs of patients.
- Review patient charts and interview patients, physicians, or nurses to obtain information for medication records or profiles.
- Verify medication orders for completeness and legality.
- Provide immediate and direct supervision of supportive personnel.
- Participate in the education and training of pharmacy students, residents, and support staff.
- Conduct monthly nursing unit reviews and assist in the performance evaluation of area supportive personnel.
- Evaluate and monitor patients' therapeutic responses to prescribed medications.
- Must hold a degree from an accredited college of pharmacy and have served an internship and/or residency in hospital pharmacy.
- Should demonstrate acumen in verbal and written communication skills.
- Must possess a thorough understanding of the pathophysiology and pharmacotherapy of disease states.
- Must have basic abilities for participating in teaching programs.
Must be licensed or eligible for licensure in the State of Michigan. If eligible, licensure must be obtained within 30 days of hire.
