Job Summary

As a Dietary Aide at the University of Maryland Medical System, you will play a vital role in ensuring the highest level of patient care and satisfaction. This position requires strong communication and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver patient trays to floors using Meal Delivery Carts, ensuring timely and accurate service.
  • Assemble Meal Trays according to Patient Selections and Diet Guidelines, maintaining the highest standards of food safety and quality.
  • Pass and collect meal trays from patients, including those in isolation, using two Patient Identifiers.
  • Fill patient requests and retrieve missing/needed items for delivery to patients in a timely manner.
  • Record intake for patients on I &O's and/or caloric counts, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records.
  • Maintain the unit kitchens, including cleaning and sanitizing equipment, refrigerators, and storage areas.
  • Rotate and replenish bulk nourishments, ensuring a consistent supply of food and beverages.
  • Update diet lists and status on all patients, including admissions, transfers, and discharges.
  • Deliver Therapeutic Foods to nursing units as ordered.
  • Record tray count on meal conversion sheets, ensuring accurate and timely reporting.
  • Ensure safe food handling practices at all times.
Requirements
  • One year of food preparation experience, preferably in a large-scale institutional dietary setting.
  • Completion of Sanitation and Food Handlers course, preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong communication and problem-solving skills.
