Job SummaryWe are seeking an experienced veterinary assistant to join our team. As a veterinary assistant, you will assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians in all aspects of animal care, including preparing animals for exams and surgery, performing medical treatments, and administering medications.
Responsibilities- Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians in all aspects of animal care
- Prepare animals for exams and surgery
- Perform medical treatments
- Administer medications under the direction of a veterinarian or veterinary technician
- Obtain and properly handle/prepare in-house and laboratory specimens
- Work in cooperation with staff to attend to any immediate needs
- Handle animals and their owners in a responsive, courteous, and tactful manner
- Maintain a healthy, safe, sanitary, pleasant, and clean facility for animals
- Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb
- Ability to manipulate (lift, carry, move) up to 50 pounds and lift over 50 pounds with assistance
- Ability to work in noisy work conditions with sounds from animals and equipment
- Ability to exchange accurate information with all clients and team members
