PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF THE POSITION:

The Welder II is responsible for planning and executing a variety of welding, layout, cutting, brazing, and soldering tasks on numerous parts, components, and assemblies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform welding on various materials in structural and sheet metal configurations, utilizing a comprehensive range of welding techniques including gas metal arc welding (GMAW), gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW), plasma cutting, and oxyacetylene cutting.
  • Select appropriate rods, wires, tips, and electrodes for specific tasks.
  • Fit and position components according to technical drawings using locating fixtures and measuring tools as necessary, creating fixtures when required.
  • Conduct quality checks to ensure adherence to specified tolerances and standards.
  • Execute tack welding as needed and perform welding in all positions, including confined spaces.
  • Interpret technical drawings, sketches, welding symbols, and specifications to determine the correct methods and techniques for each task.
  • Identify production flow issues and recommend solutions to enhance efficiency.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area and equipment.
  • Weld and finish products to meet customer specifications, ensuring high-quality appearance.
  • May involve occasional fieldwork as directed.

  • Other duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Welder qualifications per ASME Section IX and/or AWS D1.1 for GTAW, FCAW, and/or GMAW in various positions.
  • A minimum of 3 years of welding experience.
  • Training in crane and forklift operation, with competency in rigging.
  • Strong mathematical skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Proficient in using hand tools, measuring instruments, and operating welding equipment with the correct settings for different processes.
  • Experience in intricate welding tasks, both manual and machine-based, to meet precise standards.
  • Ability to perform fixturing and setup as required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

This position requires a moderately heavy workload, including the occasional lifting of objects weighing up to 50 pounds. The role may involve operating various industrial machining tools.
