Overview

At Microsoft, we aspire to create a safer world for all by delivering end-to-end security solutions. As a Senior/Principal Software Engineer on the Microsoft Defender engineering team, you will play a crucial role in building and delivering cloud-based security products that protect millions of computers from thousands of active attack attempts every month.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies, design and automate service scale features, and improve our security posture and compliance automation. You will collaborate across team boundaries to deliver engineering goals, contribute to significantly improving the security rigor of our system, and lead the design and implementation of new features. Additionally, you will be part of an on-call rotation within a secure facility.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Servicing Scalable Solutions: Build and improve services to meet performance Service Level Agreements (SLA) and customer expectations.
  2. Engineering Leadership: Provide technical leadership for a Dev-Ops team handling and remediating customer issues.
  3. Security and Compliance: Design and implement improvements to our security posture and compliance automation.
  4. Collaboration: Collaborate across team boundaries to meet engineering goals and ensure services/systems are highly stable and performant.
  5. Continuous Improvement: Contribute to significantly improving the security rigor of our system to best-in-world standards.

Requirements

The successful candidate must have an active U.S. Government Top Secret Clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) based on a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) with Polygraph. Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements is required for this role. Failure to maintain or obtain the appropriate U.S. Government clearance and/or customer screening requirements may result in employment action up to and including termination.

Additional Requirements

Candidates must possess a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline, with 4+ years of technical engineering experience, or equivalent experience. A deeper understanding of C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python programming languages is also necessary.
