The Nursing Assistant plays a vital role in the delivery of patient care in our Medical Surgical Cardiology/IMC unit at Fairview Health Services. This position is responsible for assisting professional nurses in providing high-quality care to patients, ensuring their comfort, safety, and well-being.
Responsibilities- Assist professional nurses in delivering patient care, including transporting patients and equipment, setting up and maintaining patient rooms, and reordering and stocking supplies.
- Provide basic patient care, including personal grooming, bathing, toileting, feeding, skin care, oral hygiene, specimen collection/testing, positioning/ambulating, changing linens, and promptly answering call lights.
- Accurately take and record weights, input/output, blood pressure, temperature, pulse rates, respiration, oxygen saturation, and place patients on/off monitors or equipment.
- Report unusual findings to the RN in a timely manner and assist with admissions, transfers, and discharge of patients.
- Orient patients and their families to the environment, assure patients' belongings are accounted for, and transport patients, equipment, specimens, and supplies.
- Clean, set up, and maintain rooms and equipment, order and stock supplies, and accurately document tasks performed on appropriate forms.
- Successful completion of Fairview's OnTrack Nursing Assistant training program or another Fairview-sponsored Nursing Assistant program.
- OR six months of recent direct care experience in a long-term, home care, or acute care setting.
- OR current enrollment in an LPN, RN, or Nurse Practitioner program, and completion of one semester of clinical rotation within the program.
- OR current certification on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry upon hire.
- Basic Life Support (BLS for Healthcare Providers) certification required.
