Job Summary

Piedmont Healthcare is seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistant to join our team. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our healthcare professionals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Obtain patient information and medical history, accurately documenting all relevant details in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
  • Perform vital signs, EKGs, and other office procedures, assisting licensed staff during treatment and examination.
  • Record lab results, including phlebotomy, order entry, and specimen collection, ensuring accurate chain of custody and labeling for testing.
  • Under the supervision of licensed personnel, distribute educational materials and instructions for patient care, diagnostics, and treatments.
  • Coordinate prescription refills and test results, responding to patient inquiries and requests under provider guidance.
  • Prepare and maintain examination/treatment rooms, including inventory management and supply ordering.
  • Practice Standard Precautions, adhering to risk management, HIPAA, and safety procedures.
  • Attend required meetings, in-services, and participate in committees as needed.
  • Assist with administrative tasks, including procedure scheduling and completion of medical history forms.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program or completion of a Nursing Assistant program is required.
  • In lieu of formal education, one year of medical assistant or related clinical experience is required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • BLS certification required.
  • Certification from the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or a similarly recognized certifying organization is preferred.
