Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our Wound Management Center team at Wheeling Hospital. As an LPN, you will provide high-quality patient care in an outpatient setting, working closely with our medical team to deliver exceptional patient outcomes.

Responsibilities
  • Provide direct nursing care to patients in an outpatient medical office setting, utilizing standards of care and practice to guide care delivery.
  • Administer medications accurately and safely, as ordered by the provider.
  • Consult with the provider or registered nurse to seek guidance in delivery of nursing care, as necessary.
  • Obtain instruction and supervision as needed from the provider or registered nurse when implementing nursing technique or practices.
  • Perform designated therapeutic procedures to patients as needed, accurately observing, recording, and reporting patient concerns, symptoms, reactions, and progress in a timely manner.
  • Assist providers and registered nurses with examinations and procedures, as assigned.
  • Utilize available supplies in a cost-effective manner to help contain patient costs.
  • Provide emotional support to patients and/or families, participating in problem-solving and decision-making in the outpatient unit.
  • Obtain medical information from patients, taking height, weight, blood pressure, and vital signs, screening patients for chief complaint and pertinent health data, recording data gathered in patient's medical record, and communicating data gathered to the physician.
  • Work closely with office assistants and physicians to facilitate patient clinic visits, ensuring patient charts are available, escorting patients to and from exam rooms, and assisting with scheduling when necessary.
Requirements
  • Current unencumbered licensure with the WV Board of Practical Nursing, or appropriate state board where services will be provided, as a practical nurse, or current multi-state licensure through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC).
  • Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date.

  • Standard clinical environment. Volume of patients is very high. Position is frequently exposed to bloodborne pathogens, bodily fluids, toxins, and chemicals.
