Job Summary

VSS International, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Class A CDL Driver to join our team as a Slurry Truck Operator. As a key member of our Pavement Preservation team, you will be responsible for operating a slurry truck to apply a specialized coating to pavement surfaces.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform daily pre/post trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure compliance with DOT and company policies.
  • Control the output of materials to produce a high-quality finished product.
  • Ensure company safety rules are always followed and direct squeegee employees to produce a perfect finished product.
  • Perform minor repairs to the paving machine and box as needed.
  • Assist and direct the paving crew with hand work and clean up as needed.
  • Communicate with the line driver to ensure no gutter spills occur and communicate all safety, quality, or production issues to the superintendent.
  • Meet with the superintendent daily to establish a production plan for the day.
Requirements
  • Class A Commercial License
  • Excellent commercial driving skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to supervise and direct squeegee employees in a professional manner
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education & experience
  • 1-3 years of work on a slurry crew
Work Environment

This role requires working alone and with others in outside weather conditions, subjecting the incumbent to extreme heat and cold. The work environment includes exposure to fumes, odors, dirt, dust, heat, cold, noise, wetness, and humidity, as well as vibration, darkness, and/or poor lighting.

The incumbent will be exposed to pressurized equipment, moving objects, high places, and hazardous materials. Standing for long periods of time in one place is also required. The ability to lift up to 75lbs with assistance and 50lbs without assistance is necessary.

The work environment can be hot in the summer and cold in the winter.
