Speech and Language Pathology Assistant

The Lowell School District 71 is seeking a highly skilled Speech and Language Pathology Assistant to join our team. As a Speech and Language Pathology Assistant, you will work under the direction of a certified Speech Language Pathologist to provide educational services to students with speech and language needs. Your primary responsibilities will include conducting speech and language screenings, providing direct treatment assistance, documenting patient progress, and assisting with clerical duties. Responsibilities
Conduct speech and language screenings without interpretation, utilizing screening protocols specified by the supervising SLP.
Provide direct treatment assistance to patients/clients by following written treatment plans or protocols developed by the SLP.
Document patient/client progress, without interpretation of findings, toward meeting established objectives as stated in the treatment plan and reports this information to the SLP.
Assist with recording informal documentation during an intervention session (collecting, summarizing, and tallying data as directed by the SLP), assist in collecting and tallying of data for assessment purposes, without interpretation of findings.
Prepare materials and assist with other clerical duties, including word processing, typing, filing, duplicating, recording.
Schedule activities and prepare charts, records, graphs or other displays of data.
Perform checks and maintenance of equipment.
Provide instructional support to students as directed. Instruct individuals or small groups of students with speech and language needs, following a prescribed program.
Prepare materials prescribed by the teacher, the Individual Education Plan, or lesson plan. Instruct small student groups and provide one-on-one tutoring of students as directed by the SLP.
Organize and manage student data and records. Tabulate and score tests.
Identify and describe clinically relevant student behaviors.
Use cues/prompts with the student as defined in the treatment protocol prescribed by the supervising SLP.
Provide behavioral reinforcement consistent with the student's developmental age, cultural preference and communication disorder as prescribed by the SLP.
Review and summarize student performance according to the protocol prescribed by the SLP at the end of each session.
Prepare age-appropriate and culturally sensitive treatment materials appropriate to the student's developmental age and communication disorder as prescribed by the SLP.
Plan and consult with teachers and administrators.
Assist in health-related procedures, i.e., medication, hygiene, toileting, etc.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
Associate Degree from an accredited speech language pathology assistant program and/or any combination of education and experience that meets the requirement of the Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology licensing board in Oregon.
Oregon Board of Examiners Certificate in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology Assistant / Provisional Assistant or the ability to obtain a license once the supervising SLP has been identified.
