Clinical Informatics Specialist
Overview
The Clinical Informatics Specialist is responsible for leading and enhancing the development, improvement, and efficiency of clinical systems and technologies that influence patient care and operational effectiveness across the organization.
This role requires a deep understanding of clinical workflows, regulatory requirements, and quality improvement principles relevant to the specialist's clinical focus. The Specialist is expected to be proficient in core technologies while also possessing knowledge of the workflows and applications that support their primary area of expertise.
Salary: $41.16/hr - $74.52/hr
The position's grade and salary are determined by specific criteria related to qualifications, relevant experience, skills, performance, and internal equity.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Lead clinical informatics initiatives to ensure evidence-based practices are utilized for planning and delivering effective patient care.
  • Act as an Informatics leader, bridging the gap between personnel, processes, clinical expertise, and technology.
  • Document requirements that will guide the development of tools, reports, and systems to meet organizational needs.
  • Employ the SBAR framework to formulate recommendations for informatics solutions.
  • Ensure that workflows and processes align with regulatory standards and best practices.
  • Identify necessary system modifications to comply with policies and procedures efficiently.
  • Leverage data to drive changes in processes, workflows, and behaviors concerning the effective use of electronic medical records (EMR) and other clinical technologies.
  • Serve as a resource for end users regarding information systems and technology; communicate changes in systems, workflows, and procedures effectively.
  • Engage in the creation and dissemination of communications related to technology through internal networking, clinical liaison roles, newsletters, and other technology-driven methods to inform health professionals.
  • Conduct regular rounds in patient care areas to gain insights into facility-specific workflows, patient throughput, and technology-related challenges.
  • Monitor outcomes and assess user adoption of both current and newly implemented information technologies and functionalities.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Post-graduate degree in Nursing Informatics, Health Informatics, or related fields. Alternatively, a clinical background with a post-graduate degree and one year of Informatics experience is acceptable.
  • A minimum of four years of experience in Clinical/Nursing/Health Informatics, with direct experience in Epic applications preferred.
  • Completion of the EPIC Clinical Content Builder series and relevant certifications or badges within the first year or longer with approval from the Senior Manager.
  • Professional Informatics certification (ANCC, AMIA 10x10, etc.) is required within the first year of employment if the Master's degree is not in Informatics.
