Job Summary

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the director in maintaining regulatory agency documentation and compliance, including JCAHO and DOH.
  • Manage all activities for repairs, preventive maintenance, and project activities, including planning, organizing, scheduling, and controlling manpower and materials.
  • Manage personnel activities, including evaluations, training, performance/productivity standards, interviewing/hiring, disciplinary actions, and counseling.
  • Perform work order and project investigation or management, including estimates, manpower requirements, and schedules.
  • Coordinate and control outside contractors in the performance of purchased services, new construction, or other building trades work.
  • Oversee daily manpower schedules to ensure adequate coverage for all routine and emergency conditions.
  • Monitor employees for acceptable levels of work quantity and quality per established PMP standards.
  • Provide in-service training and direct employees in proper maintenance methods, procedures, and emergency protocols.
  • Prepare and assist the director in preparing annual minor capital and expense budgets.
Secondary Responsibilities
  • Communicate with the director on a daily basis regarding current progress levels of work being performed and problems encountered.
  • Provide information to the director or personally perform administrative functions, including personnel transactions.
  • Stay technologically current on developments affecting the scope of responsibility.
  • Make recommendations to the director for improving employee performance, work methods, procedures, office functions, and scheduling.
Requirements
  • Eight (8) years of Plant Engineering/Maintenance experience.
  • Three (3) years of Supervisor/Administration experience.
  • Five (5) years of craft/trade skills.
  • Associate's Degree in a related field (preferred).
  • Familiarity with DOH, JCAHO, OSHA, DER, NFPA, etc. (preferred).
  • Five (5) years' experience in hospital engineering and maintenance (preferred).

Physical Requirements
  • Rarely 0-10%; Occasionally 11-35%; Frequently 36-70%; Continuously 71-100%.
  • Body Position/Movement: Sit, stand, walk, bend, push, pull, kneel/squat, reach, twist, balance, climb.
