Role Overview:
To realize Visa's ambition of becoming the preferred payment solution for all, the Operations & Infrastructure (O&I) division is tasked with delivering top-tier infrastructure services that are secure, scalable, and consistently available, leveraging software-defined infrastructures.

The O&I division presents an exciting opportunity to engage with cutting-edge technologies amidst significant industry innovations, particularly in cloud computing.

The Middleware Engineering & Operations team is responsible for comprehensive design, construction, and support services for Web and Middle-tier platforms, classified under PaaS (Platform as a Service).

The selected candidate will collaborate with fellow Middleware Systems engineers and technical personnel to design, construct, support, and enhance platforms utilizing various Middleware and Integration technologies.

We seek a forward-thinking, skilled Senior Systems Engineer / DevOps professional to join the Middleware Engineering team, which is part of the Global Service Engineering unit. This role is crucial for managing common middleware and integration infrastructure that facilitates communication across multiple enterprise applications and business sectors.

Key Responsibilities:
This position entails the development, configuration, troubleshooting, deployment, and ongoing operational enhancement of middleware technologies utilized at Visa. Responsibilities include:

  • Collaborating with Global systems, Global Operations, Cybersource, Authorize.Net, and external integration partners to implement solutions using current or proposed middleware technologies.
  • Possessing a solid foundational understanding of web/App tier technologies (e.g., Tomcat, JAVA, Httpd) and demonstrating comfort in implementing security measures (SSL/PKI) and compliance with industry standards.

Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years of professional experience with a Bachelor's Degree or an Advanced Degree (e.g., Masters, MBA, JD, MD, or PhD).
Preferred Qualifications:
  • At least 3 years of professional experience with a Bachelor's Degree or over 2 years of experience with an Advanced Degree.
  • Proficient understanding of web & App tier technology products, including but not limited to Tomcat, Apache Proxy, Nginx, and messaging platforms like IBMMQ and Kafka.
  • Strong grasp of security technologies, including SSL/TLS and PKI, OpenSSL, and SSH.
  • Proficient scripting skills in one or more languages such as Python, Ruby, or Bash.
  • Experience in diagnosing production issues and problem-solving.
  • Solid understanding of UNIX/Linux, databases, networking, storage technologies, load balancers, firewalls, SAN, DNS, and LDAP.
  • Basic knowledge of Micro Container technologies (Docker/Kubernetes/OpenShift) and programming in Java, J2EE.
  • Familiarity with configuration management tools like Chef or Ansible, as well as DevOps tools such as Jenkins, Git, CI/CD pipelines, and monitoring tools like Prometheus and Grafana.
  • Ability to coordinate with globally distributed teams and provide occasional 24x7 support.
  • Knowledge of fraud management, payment processing, and/or credit card systems is advantageous.
