About the Role

PDS Tech Commercial, Inc. is seeking skilled Shipfitters and Tack Welders to join our team in Sturgeon Bay, WI. As a Shipfitter, you will be responsible for working on large fleet maritime vessels, utilizing your expertise in Tack Welding to ensure precision and efficiency in your work.

Key Responsibilities
  • Verify conformance of work pieces to specifications, using squares, rulers, and measuring tapes.
  • Align and fit parts according to specifications.
  • Position, align, fit, and weld parts to form complete units, following blueprints.
  • Set up and operate fabricating machines, such as brakes, rolls, shears, cutting torches, grinders, and drill presses, to bend, cut, form, punch, drill, or otherwise form and assemble metal components.
  • Tack-weld fitted parts together.
  • Remove high spots and cut bevels, using hand files, portable grinders, and cutting torches.
Requirements
  • High school degree or equivalent.
  • 2-4+ years of experience.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints along with 3D prints/schematics.
  • Physically able to lift 50 pounds – inclusive of walking/climbing stairs.
  • Comfortable working in smaller/enclosed spaces within the ship.
