Job Description

Job Title: Gospel Worship Pianist or Keyboardist

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Pianist or Keyboardist to provide musical support for our Gospel worship services. The successful candidate will be responsible for playing the piano or keyboard for designated worship services, accompanying the choir or worship team, and playing for special services.

Responsibilities:

  • Play the piano or keyboard for designated worship services, including preludes, offertories, and postludes
  • Accompany the choir or worship team for rehearsals and services
  • Play for special services, such as weddings and funerals
  • Communicate with the Chaplains, song leaders, and other musicians to ensure a coordinated service of worship
  • Plan and coordinate musical selections with the Chaplain or designated representative
  • Provide music selections to the Chaplain in time to be published in the bulletin
  • Notify the COR concerning any maintenance problems or requests concerning the instrument

Requirements:

  • Five years of experience playing religious music in houses of worship or military chapels
  • Experience in Contemporary Gospel, Pentecostal, traditional hymnic, choral, contemporary Christian, and liturgical musical trends
  • Ability to play by ear and sheet music
  • Favorable background checks

Working Conditions:

This is a part-time position with compensation based on budget and the successful candidate's experience and qualifications. The Musician shall adhere to all security and weather warnings and notifications. In the event that inclement weather causes the cancellation and/or postponement of an event, the COR will notify the musician when services are not needed.
