Pediatric Nurse Job Description

At Public Health Trust of Dade Co, we are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Pediatric Nurse to join our team at Holtz Children's Hospital. As a Pediatric Nurse, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional care to our young patients and their families.

Job Summary

The Pediatric Nurse will work in collaboration with our multidisciplinary team to provide high-quality, patient-centered care to children with a range of medical conditions. You will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the care of our patients, as well as educating families and healthcare providers on pediatric health and wellness.

Responsibilities
  • Assess and plan care for pediatric patients with complex medical conditions
  • Implement and coordinate the delivery of care in collaboration with physicians and other healthcare staff
  • Utilize the nursing process to apply nursing knowledge and make informed decisions
  • Document all pertinent information regarding nursing care, care plans, and observations
  • Account for narcotics and emergency equipment on each tour of duty
  • Maintain a working knowledge of facility infection control procedures
  • Recognize, question, and report significant patient findings and/or inconsistencies in medical/nursing orders/treatment regime
  • Select and individualize/updates and adheres to clinical procedures/protocols/standards/clinical pathways, plans of care/narcotics policies and discharge/teaching plans
  • Completes and submits patient/unit charges
  • Recognizes/prioritizes overt/convert unit needs/problems/implements corrective action independently
  • Provides functional direction and assistance to LPNs and CNAs or MAs, and completes new staff orientation as assigned
  • Makes rounds on a timely basis to ensure continuity of care
  • Follows and performs all related unit specific policies and procedures, as detailed on the unit specific competency check-list
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • An Associate's degree in Nursing
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) and any additional applicable life support certification for Healthcare Providers
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of Florida
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and responsibilities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team
