Job Summary

The Lead Maintenance Technician is a highly skilled professional responsible for the maintenance, repair, and installation of complex mechanical systems and equipment. This role requires a strong background in welding, pipefitting, plumbing, and machinery operation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the installation, maintenance, and repair of complex mechanical systems and equipment.
  • Maintain a safe work environment through job planning and hazard identification.
  • Troubleshoot and isolate complex mechanical problems, implementing corrective actions as necessary.
  • Perform complex carpentry work, small engine repair, and tool maintenance as required.
  • Plan and lay out work in accordance with applicable standards and codes.
  • Recommend changes to improve efficiency and quality of mechanical operations.
  • Read and interpret complex plans, diagrams, and specifications.
  • Maintain and repair heavy mobile equipment.
  • Provide estimates of time and material required, requisitioning tools and supplies as necessary.
  • Prepare and maintain complex documentation and reports.
  • Lead preventative maintenance duties, including cleaning, oiling, and lubricating equipment.
  • Direct activities of lower-level maintenance personnel as necessary.
Requirements
  • Associate degree in a Technical or Trades field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • State of Michigan Licensed Master Electrician with commercial/industrial experience within the last two years.
  • State of Michigan Mechanical License with certification classes 1, 2, 3, 6, and 8, with commercial/industrial experience within the last two years.
  • Completion of an apprenticeship is preferred.
  • High School Diploma with 11 or more years of applicable experience, State of Michigan Licensed Master Electrician, and State of Michigan Mechanical License with certification classes 1, 2, 3, 6, and 8, with commercial/industrial experience within the last two years.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Universal Refrigerant Recovery Certification.
  • Strong organization and attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to read and understand mechanical piping drawings, equipment assembly drawings, technical manuals, and blueprints.
