CareFlite Aviation Maintenance Specialists are tasked with the upkeep, evaluation, repair, and enhancement of CareFlite aircraft, ensuring that they consistently meet airworthiness standards on a twenty-four (24) hour, as needed, basis.

These specialists are integral members of the professional team that facilitates air ambulance services in the Dallas/Fort Worth region.

As part of the Maintenance Team, they are expected to exhibit strong interpersonal and communication skills to foster collaboration and contribute positively to the organization's mission.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Adheres to all safety protocols, OSHA regulations, and CareFlite safety guidelines.
  • Reports any safety incidents or potential hazards promptly and appropriately.
  • Coordinates maintenance schedules with the Director of Maintenance or Maintenance Manager, considering workflow, equipment location, personnel, tools, supplies, job requirements, and weather conditions.
  • Responds effectively to after-hours maintenance needs when on-call.
  • Conducts maintenance, inspections, repairs, and modifications in compliance with FAA regulations, manufacturer guidelines, and CareFlite maintenance policies.
  • Utilizes CareFlite maintenance resources efficiently to complete tasks and minimize aircraft downtime, employing the appropriate technical data.
  • Orders necessary parts, lubricants, and supplies in adequate quantities to prevent aircraft downtime, following CareFlite procedures for ordering and storing components.
  • Complies with CareFlite tool control and Foreign Object Damage (FOD) policies.
  • Maintains and secures maintenance equipment at designated locations.
  • Demonstrates problem-solving abilities and develops practical solutions.
  • Keeps work and break areas organized and tidy.
  • Seeks opportunities to enhance professional skills or engage in work-related projects during free time.
  • Identifies efficiency or cost-saving opportunities and communicates them to supervisors in a timely manner.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations pertaining to maintenance in Part 135 operations.
  • Minimum of five years of maintenance experience on relevant aircraft types (helicopter and/or fixed wing).
  • Experience in supporting 24-hour emergency medical services (EMS) air ambulance operations is preferred.
  • Proficient English language skills with effective communication abilities, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to maintain tact and diplomacy in high-pressure situations.
  • Knowledge of helicopter maintenance procedures and appropriate tool usage.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to make decisions that impact the immediate work unit.
  • Capacity to understand, remember, and apply oral and written instructions.
  • Must be able to see and communicate with customers and observe equipment operations.
  • Occasionally required to perform tasks while standing and walking for extended periods.
  • Ability to reach, bend, kneel, and demonstrate high manual dexterity.
  • Frequently required to lift and carry up to 50 pounds or more.
  • Work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.
  • Exposure to extreme temperatures may occur.
  • Personal protective equipment must be worn while performing specific tasks or in designated areas.
