Field Service Technician for Power Generation

We are seeking a proficient Field Service Technician with expertise in the Power Generation sector to enhance our dedicated team. This role involves hands-on engagement with essential power systems, providing an excellent opportunity for those passionate about technical service excellence. Our team operates across diverse sectors including data centers and healthcare.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct start-up, testing, commissioning, and preventative maintenance on low and medium voltage switchgear and automatic transfer switches.
  • Perform troubleshooting, servicing, and repairs on paralleling switchgear, automatic transfer switches, control systems, and mechanical equipment at client sites.
  • Develop and oversee predictive and preventative maintenance initiatives.
  • Establish and nurture relationships with customers and vendors while ensuring high-quality technical service.
  • Follow established testing and maintenance protocols for breaker, switchgear, relay, control, and automation equipment.
  • Facilitate technical training programs for customers, partners, and staff on both new and existing products.
  • Conduct quality assurance reviews of engineering schematics.
Qualifications
  • A minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in preventative and predictive maintenance of power distribution and control systems or equivalent educational background.
  • Proficient in the installation, maintenance, testing, and repair of circuit breakers, transformers, switchgear, and related electrical and control equipment.
  • Familiarity with relevant health, safety, and electrical regulatory codes and standards.
  • General computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and OneNote, as well as the ability to utilize smartphones for daily tasks.
  • Capability to interpret detailed electrical schematics and mechanical diagrams.
  • Strong customer service aptitude.
  • Ability to work autonomously and in remote environments.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time.
Preferred Qualifications
  • NETA/NICET Certification (ETT Level II or higher) in electrical equipment testing.
  • Experience in the start-up and commissioning of generator paralleling switchgear.
  • Advanced knowledge of industrial electrical equipment including switchgear, transfer switches, circuit breakers, and generators.
  • In-depth understanding of industrial control systems such as metering, protective relaying, relay ladder logic, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), and Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs).
