Role Summary:
The Head of People Operations will spearhead and oversee all facets of human resources strategies and methodologies, ensuring the organization attracts, nurtures, and retains top-tier talent. This individual will supervise a team of HR specialists, including Payroll, Recruitment, and Training. The role encompasses strategic planning, talent acquisition, onboarding, benefits management, compliance with labor regulations, performance evaluation, and employee growth initiatives. The Head of People Operations will act as a trusted consultant to the executive team, driving programs to enhance the employee experience and organizational efficiency.
Core Responsibilities:
- Direct and manage the recruitment, onboarding, benefits, compensation, training, performance evaluation, workers' compensation, and the complete employee lifecycle across various locations.
- Oversee and administer employee benefits programs, including health, dental, vision, life, and ancillary benefits.
- Manage the open enrollment process, including the development and execution of an open enrollment strategy, selection of benefits plans, and analysis of usage to ensure optimal offerings.
- Design a comprehensive onboarding process that ensures new hires feel welcomed, understand the organization's culture, policies, and programs, and are smoothly integrated into their roles.
- Conduct all new hire HR and Benefits onboarding presentations.
- Collaborate with the Training & Development Manager to create learning and development initiatives that provide internal growth opportunities for employees.
- Assist the Professional Development Committee with benchmarking, performance, compensation review, and evaluation processes.
- Provide guidance to management on addressing and resolving employee concerns.
- Manage and implement automated employee performance processes.
- Oversee payroll operations to ensure accurate and timely compensation disbursements.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements for employees working in various jurisdictions.
- Ensure competitive and cost-effective compensation and benefits plans aligned with market trends.
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding plan provisions, benefits enrollments, status changes, and other general inquiries.
- Process and manage all leave-of-absence requests and disability paperwork in compliance with applicable laws.
- Monitor and ensure the organization's adherence to federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, recommending best practices.
- Communicate changes to personnel policies and procedures to employees, ensuring proper compliance and understanding.
- Consult with leadership and management on compensation, goal setting, and succession planning.
- Investigate employee complaints or concerns and liaise with legal counsel on complex employment matters.
- Maintain awareness of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Organizational Management, or a related field.
- SHRM-SCP, SPHR, or equivalent certification is highly desirable.
- A minimum of 7 years of progressive HR experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership capacity.
- Strong knowledge of HR laws, regulations, and best practices.
- Experience with ADP Workforce Now is preferred.
- Familiarity with Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS).
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proven ability to influence and build relationships with senior leadership and employees at all levels.
- Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.
- Willingness to travel as needed.
