Position Overview:
The IHR/PRN Registered Nurse Inpatient embodies the core mission, vision, and values of Northwestern Medicine, adhering to the organization's ethical standards and compliance protocols while following all relevant policies and regulatory requirements.
This role requires a clinically proficient, registered nurse who is responsible for prescribing, delegating, and coordinating nursing care for patients experiencing acute illness. The nursing process, which includes assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation, is utilized to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Gather and assess patient data, establish expected outcomes, create and execute personalized care plans, coordinate care delivery, and monitor progress towards achieving these outcomes.
- Oversee care delivery and determine the appropriate use of support staff involved in direct patient care.
- Engage in collaboration with patients, families, physicians, and ancillary personnel, ensuring that care plans are well-documented and focused on outcomes.
- Contribute to shared governance, participate in committee activities, and engage in unit-based projects.
- Assess and document patient responses to nursing interventions in the health record, adjusting care plans based on evaluation findings.
- Incorporate the best available evidence, including research findings, to inform clinical practice decisions.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Current Illinois Registered Professional Nurse license
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team
- *An Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) is acceptable with a commitment to obtain a BSN from an accredited institution within three years of employment in the clinical nurse role.
Preferred:
- Experience with vascular access, including MID/PICC lines and ultrasound-guided IV placements.
