Job Title: CNC Machinist

Job Summary:
The CNC Machinist is responsible for creating and approving fixturing designs, tooling designs, and CNC programs. This position also oversees the implementation of these designs until they are proven effective. Additionally, the CNC Machinist is responsible for process improvements, including cycle time reductions and process flow improvements, and cost reduction.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Interact with internal departments regarding cast vs. machining decisions.
  2. Utilize CAM systems for generation of cutter paths.
  3. Oversee building and startup until proved capable and production ready.
  4. Produce detailed documentation of processes.
  5. Troubleshoot difficult machining problems and assist other setup personnel in solving problems.
  6. Initiate reviews of existing processes and search for and implement continuing improvements.
  7. Train machining personnel on basic principles of machining, equipment setup, troubleshooting, and quality systems procedures.

Requirements:
  1. Two years minimum experience with CNC machines and mechanical tools and fixturing.
  2. Two years minimum experience CNC Programming.
  3. Ability to work in a team atmosphere and possess strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  4. Ability to work without close supervision and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  5. Machining experience within a high production facility is a plus.
  6. Automation and macro programming experience is a plus.
  7. Understanding GD&T.
  8. Knowledge of selecting/designing proper cutting tools.

Safety Requirements:
  1. Wear all required PPE: safety glasses, hearing protection, safety footwear.
  2. Comply with all established safety rules and policies.
  3. Report unsafe conditions, all accidents, and near misses immediately to Supervisor or Manager.

Physical Requirements:
  1. Can stand for several hours at a time.
