Location: Torrance, California

The Health and Safety Specialist plays a crucial role in supporting the execution and upkeep of the QHSE program (Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment) within the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the compliant transportation of hazardous materials in accordance with established regulations.
  • Perform Dangerous Goods Checks for outgoing shipments.
  • Conduct internal audits to ensure adherence to compliance standards.
  • Stay informed about the latest regulations regarding hazardous materials.
  • Work collaboratively with various stakeholders to address compliance challenges.
  • Investigate incidents related to hazardous materials and implement necessary corrective measures.
  • Engage with transportation providers to ensure safe handling and transport.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Develop local process documentation and deliver training sessions.
  • Identify potential risks and opportunities within the quality management framework.
  • Support special projects as required.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Preferred Bachelor's degree in Quality, Supply Chain, Logistics, or a related business field.
  • 3-5+ years of relevant industry experience.
  • Familiarity with the IATA Dangerous Goods Acceptance Checklist.
  • Comprehensive understanding of national and international regulations governing hazardous materials transportation.
  • Proficient in software and tools pertinent to hazardous materials management.
  • Ability to operate independently and make informed decisions under pressure.
  • Experience within the transportation and logistics sector.
