Job Description:

This challenging role involves developing creative and technically superior engineering solutions under the supervision of the Engineering Manager. The successful candidate will have increased levels of accountability, skill, and leadership, with a focus on delivering high-quality products and services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design Solutions (40%):
    • Deliver engineering design excellence by generating inventive ideas expressed through sketching that meet functional requirements.
    • Adjust and/or incorporate changes in design based on feedback from management and/or client.
    • Develop design concepts for products, parts, and assemblies.
    • Create detailed CAD models of parts and assemblies.
    • Develop product documentation that supports high-quality production.
    • Employ DFM, DFA, and DFQ.
    • Use advanced engineering modeling and simulation tools, instrumentation, and measurement, and design of experiments.
  • Quality/Continuous Improvement (30%):
    • Deliver flawless deliverables to clients.
    • Manage deliverables and timing for self.
    • Deliver products that meet Kaleidoscope's standards and, when appropriate, international standards and regulations.
  • Performance Management (10%):
    • Check own work and that of peers, as requested.
    • Mentor and collaborate with entry-level staff.
    • Participate in the management of scope, schedule, and cost.
  • Client Interaction (10%):
    • Present to internal and external audiences.
    • Represent Kaleidoscope in a positive fashion.
  • Research (10%):
    • Participate in project research and brainstorming teams.
    • Participate and lead meetings with clients.
    • Objectively observe and understand user research inputs.
    • Participate in usability tests to discover design requirements and validate design concepts.
    • Participate in observational research as needed to uncover unmet needs.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science (or higher) in Engineering or related fields.
  • 3-6 years of professional experience in engineering and product development.
  • Possesses good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Intermediate knowledge of SolidWorks 3D CAD.
  • Basic knowledge in geometric tolerance analysis.
  • Proficient in documentation, dimensioning, and specification writing.
  • Synthesizes and drives towards appropriate solutions.
  • Basic skills in model shop and manufacturing processes and equipment/tooling requirements.
  • Utilizes knowledge of research techniques, including moderating and observing.
  • Adequately uses Microsoft Office applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Outlook.
  • Detailed-oriented work style and service.
  • Works and thinks in a methodical and logical way.
  • Prioritizes and completes tasks to deliver desired outcomes within allotted time frames.
  • Works collaboratively with colleagues and clients.
  • Thinks for clarity, accuracy, precision, relevance, depth, breadth, significance, logic, and fairness.
  • Writes and prepares documents/reports/proposals in a concise, logical, grammatically appropriate format.
